ICInsight's latest report shows that Intel Q1 semiconductor sales of 14.2 billion US dollars, once again ranked first, but Samsung Q1 semiconductor sales have reached 13.6 billion US dollars, narrowing the gap with Intel to 4%, ICInsight predicts that due to DRAM, NANDFlash boom, Samsung will be ahead of Intel in the second quarter. Becoming a semiconductor leader for the first time, Samsung is expected to jump to the first place in the semiconductor factory ranking for the whole year

In the top ten list, four are storage as the main product manufacturers, of which SK Hynix and Micron Q1 ranking rose to third and fourth, two places higher than last year's ranking, Toshiba ranked eighth.

In addition, the German chip manufacturer Infineon (Infineon) in the first quarter of this year, the annual revenue growth of 6%, successfully squeezed out the fabless Mediatek, among the world's top 10 semiconductor. Mediatek's first-quarter revenue of $1.8 billion was up 7 percent year over year, but down 17 percent from the previous quarter.

ICInsight said the top 10 factories accounted for 56 percent of overall semiconductor industry revenue in the first quarter, at $99.6 billion, and is expected to cross the $100 billion mark in the second quarter. (Q2 2017 is forecast to be the first quarter ever to surpass $100 billion in sales)

In the first quarter of this year, the world's top ten semiconductor factories, the United States has Intel, Micron, Qualcomm, Broadcom four, Europe has TI, Infineon two into the list, South Korea Samsung, Hynix two, Japan has Toshiba and Singapore NXP each entered.

Memory prices are rising, driving manufacturers to increase output. ICInsights expects that in the second quarter, Samsung is expected to benefit from the continued rise in DRAM and NANDFlash prices, surpassing Intel to become the world's largest semiconductor supplier, which will be the first time that Intel has retreated to second place after 24 years of leadership.

ICInsight's previous report pointed out that it is estimated that Samsung's semiconductor business revenue will grow to $14.94 billion in the second quarter, surpassing Intel's $14.4 billion, and the second half of the memory offer continues to rise, Samsung semiconductor business this year's annual revenue will exceed $60 billion, is expected to beat Intel to become a semiconductor supplier leader.
